Three former executives of NSP Buck have branched out and formed their own superannuation consultancy - The Heron Partnership.
The group has been formed by former NSP Buck Deputy Chief Executive, Chris Butler (pictured), who is the inaugural Managing Director of Heron; former NSP Buck Executive Director, John Smith; and former NSP Buck State Manager Victoria, Wendy Barton.
The independent consultancy aims to avoid "conflict of interest situations" by offering independent advice, lower fees and greater accountability for implementation.
"Superannuation could face the same outcry that has hit the accounting profession over the conflict involved in providing audit and consulting services to the one client," Butler says.
"The equivalent thing is happening in super when one firm provides advice, administration and asset management. It's a ticking time bomb."
The Heron Partnership will initially be based in Melbourne. "We recognise the need to have resources in other States and will be making announcements soon", Butler said.
